My research focuses on investigating the mechanistic basis of vascular disease in relation to diabetes. I have a particular interest in the role of insulin-like growth factor binding proteins in the development of metabolic dysfunction, regulation of endothelial function and predisposition to atherosclerosis. Much of my research is carried out in gene-modified rodents with alterations in insulin and IGF signalling.

My other interests include investigating the effects of insulin resistance on progenitor cells and vascular endothelial regeneration and assessing the effects of obesity on endothelial function. My research is supported by research grants and fellowships from the British Heart Foundation, Diabetes UK and Heart Research UK.
